POLY NOIR is the new dark country/noir western project of the guitarist and singer Poly from the metal crossover band INSANIA, awarded by the Four Angels. The first compositions were created already in 2018, and Poly admits the influence of dark Mohicans such as Enio Morricone, Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave or the “poet of doom” Cormac McCarthy.
In the last two years, other spirituals have started to be added to them, which follow a more guitar-based path than the original compositions based more on strings. They were completed with the production help of Tom Šlápota (DARK GAMBALLE, soundtracks for e.g. Vietcong 1, 2 and Mafia 2) and were mixed into the final form by Roman Kašník in the Reset studio.
An album is scheduled for November 2024 under the name “K mýmu ohni nesede”, which will be christened at just two concerts:
28. 11. Brno, Cabinet of Muses
4. 12. Prague, Cross Club
For the purposes of these baptisms, the band THE HOLY SPIRIT SMUGGLERS was formed, the members of which Poly will present during this year. With the songs that stumble resignedly along the dusty road between abandoned barracks, decayed torments of God, between “grabbers and bums who urinate in your footsteps”, the typical INSANIA sarcasm flashes here and there, but mostly a note of melancholy and reconciliation with the fact that the road to eternity prevails it is made of dust and ashes.
