WHEN NOTHING REMAINS unveils details of first album in nearly a decade

WHEN NOTHING REMAINS, the Swedish death-doom band, have announced the full details and pre-order availability for their forthcoming album, “Echoes of Eternal Night”, set for release on 21 November 2025 via The Circle Music. This will be the band’s fourth studio album and their first since 2016’s “In Memoriam”.

“Echoes of Eternal Night” comprises a haunting narrative, continuing the story of the girl from the previous album who bid farewell to her parents at a desolate lakeside. As she navigates harsh landscapes, her journey for enlightenment and belonging is a metaphor for the human search for meaning. The album explores the complexities and uncertainties of contemporary society, delving into death not merely as an end, but as a spiritual awakening, a pivotal moment in human evolution, between ascension and eternal darkness.

With their distinctive doom-laden sound, WHEN NOTHING REMAINS creates an experience on this new album that aligns with the theme of eternal night. The album’s haunting melodies and powerful lyrics capture the despair and hope, creating a reflective and cathartic experience. The album’s artwork complements the narrative depth, depicting the girl’s progression from light into an inescapable darkness, symbolising the challenging path of self-discovery and the lingering shadows in our lives. “Echoes of Eternal Night” is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of uncertainty, challenging listeners to confront their fears and find meaning within the void.

WHEN NOTHING REMAINS was formed in 2010 by Jan Sallander and Peter Laustsen from the former band NOX AUREA. The band was created to allow Jan and Peter complete creative freedom. The current lineup includes Jan Sallander (Rhythm Guitar, Vocals), Peter Laustsen (Lead Guitar), Dimitri Jungi (Drums), and Kim Liljedahl (Session Bass). The band stated that they waited some years after the release of “In Memoriam” to find the right label with the right vision, ultimately choosing The Circle Music as their new home.

The band previously unveiled the single and music video for “The Grim Reaper’s Tears”, offering a first glimpse into the album’s darker musical direction. The track explores the intricate emotions and internal conflict of Death personified as the Grim Reaper, portraying him as empathetic despite his role as the harbinger of death.
