The musical collective TAAK presents its sixth full-length album

After nearly six years since the release of the previous album, the philosophical hard rockers TAAK return with a new one titled “Surmalaev” (“Deathship”). It is not just the end of biological life that death signifies; its allegorical meaning encompasses the transience and inevitability of all things, as well as redemption and transformation. Unafraid to draw inspiration from the darker corners of the human soul, and equally unafraid to joke about what one may find in there, these eight new tracks invite the listener to reflect on these themes.

Musically, with the new studio album “Surmalaev”, TAAK is sailing familiar waters under the guidance of the same stars that were charted on the previous record. At its core are riffs forged in a smelter of traditional proto-doom and stoner rock, entwined with minimalist melodies. Yet there is also something that takes the listener back to the 1990s, the decade that laid the foundation for the band as it exists today.

The album “Surmalaev” was recorded in the summer of 2025 at Sügis Productions (A. Kangus) and KO Stuudio (K. Koppel). It was mixed and mastered by A. Kangus at Sügis Productions.

The album is available at Nailboard Rock Shop (https://www.nailboard.org/), Terminal (https://www.terminal.ee), Lasering (https://www.lasering.ee/), World Clinic (https://worldclinic.ee/) and other leading music retailers.
