AKASAVA, new faces to the occult-psych metal scene, will release their début ritual EP Strange Aeons in the late spring of 2015. The French have a pedigree in music almost as notable as their taste in film. So when one draws from the other, you can be sure the atmosphere is electric. Make no mistake, occult rockers Akasava pick their influences well: the playful surrealism of Jean Rollin (The Shiver of the Vampires/The Nude Vampire) meets the 70s horror of Jess Franco (Vampyros Lesbos/Exorcism). Musically speaking, Akasava also draw from that hazy era of psych and prog in the 60s and 70s. Extraordinary bands ahead of their time, such as 13th Floor Elevators, Jacula and Devil Doll, clash with more modern acts like BLOOD CEREMONY, PURSON and KADAVAR.
Despite adoring this occult and ancient sound, AKASAVA are as fresh-faced as they come: they formed in July 2014, four highly motivated souls finding much common ground, and quickly joining forces to jam out the creativity within them. Now, less than a year later, an EP is coming to light. Entitled Strange Aeons, it’s as much an homage to that era as it is pushing the sound forward in new and intriguing directions.
AKASAVA are:
Louis Hauguel: Vocals, Lyrics
